Common questions
Pricing, Straight Up
Money questions first, since nobody wants a surprise once a drain's already playing up.
Do you charge a call-out fee?
Never. $0 call-out fee applies to every visit, big job or small. The only thing you ever pay for is the work itself, and you approve that number first.
Is the quote really free?
It is. A plumber inspects the drain, explains what's gone wrong, and gives you a fixed price before touching anything. Say no and there's nothing owed.
What does "$50 off when you book online" cover?
Booking through our website rather than phoning in knocks $50 off whatever the job costs. It runs alongside the 10% seniors discount too, neither cancels the other out.
How do quotes work?
We assess the problem on-site, walk you through what's causing it, and quote a fixed price there and then. Once you accept, that price holds regardless of what the job throws up.
Common questions
Licensing and Responsibility
Who's actually qualified to do this work, and who carries the risk if something's not right.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes, NSW plumbing licence #275278C, Master Plumber accredited, and backed by $20 million public liability cover. Whoever shows up at your door holds that licence personally.
Who is responsible for a blocked sewer, me or Sydney Water?
Everything from your house to the boundary shaft is on you, and the pipe running under the street belongs to Sydney Water. Surcharging out at the road with neighbours affected too points to Sydney Water; a block confined to your property is ours to fix.
Can I clear a blocked drain myself?
A plunger is worth trying on a straightforward sink or toilet block. Steer clear of chemical cleaners and hired eels on older pipework though, and know that drainage work in NSW is legally a licensed plumber's job.
Do wipes really block drains?
They do, flushable labelling included. Unlike toilet paper, wipes hold their shape and snag on rough spots inside ageing pipes until the whole line clogs solid.
Common questions
How Fast We Get to You
Speed counts for more than almost anything else once water's going the wrong way.
What counts as a drain emergency?
Sewage rising back up indoors, a stormwater grate pooling badly in heavy rain, or a toilet overflowing and not stopping. Any of those warrants an immediate call, whatever the hour.
Do you work weekends and public holidays?
Every day of the year, including Christmas. Whoever picks up the phone is a licensed plumber, never a recorded message, whether you're calling Sunday morning or a long weekend.
How fast can you get here?
Thirty minutes, guaranteed. Drains don't pick a convenient hour to give up, so we don't build in slack either, wherever in our patch you're calling from.
What happens after I call?
A plumber takes the call, asks what you're seeing, and heads your way straight after. First the inspection, then a set price on the spot before any tools come out.
Common questions
Local to Rose Bay
The questions homeowners here actually ask us.
Do tree roots really get into pipes here?
Regularly. Rose Bay's mature street trees and larger garden blocks push roots into old clay sewer runs. Once inside a hairline crack, they widen it until the line gives way.
What suburbs do you service?
Rose Bay's our patch, and we're back and forth through Bellevue Hill, Vaucluse, Dover Heights, Double Bay and Woollahra on a normal week. Not sure if you're covered? Just call.
How local are you, really?
Genuinely local. We're past the golf courses and down near the wharf often enough that it barely counts as a special trip anymore. It's just where the work is.
Do you know Rose Bay's pipe stock?
Better than most. A good share of the older flats and Federation-era houses around here still run earthenware clay drains from well before plastic pipe took over. We've seen exactly how that stock tends to fail.
